An eye for an eye?
Man goes to the doctor's saying he's swallowed his glass eye.
Doctor tells his to drop his pants and has a look up.
Dr.: I can't see anything.
Man: No,but I can see you.

It's a pity they didn't take his good one, too.
A now deceased female friend of mine had a glass eye. One evening in our local club, my mate Tony got up to go to the loo and asked her to keep an eye on his pint. Josie, being the character she was, took out her glass eye and put it in his drink. When he came back, he saw the eye and laughed. Josie was just about to retrieve the eye when he said, "Don't be putting your fingers in my beer, i don't know where they've been." So saying, he then raised his glass to his lips and carefully drained his glass until only her eye was left, staring up at him from the bottom. He then held the glass out for her to retrieve the eye before going to the bar for another drink amid the ensuing laughter which didn't half irk the bingo players in the room.
I worked with a bloke who did EXACTLY the same thing, ^^ , on a night out or works weekend away he would do this or pop it out and give it a lick.
It is meant to be a black opal

and there is a contract out to blind him -
I am not sure that maltreating prisoners ( like er turning a blind eye to this sort of stuff - pun intended ) shows we are a civilised nation. The first protocols on POWs I thought dated from 1859 ( Solferino) but date from 1929 - after the Great War which we are remembering today.

Stealing his eye - and of course adulterating his food - that really must be Maltreatment 101, reminds me of the bad treatment of Japanese interns during the war. And we dont look at internment camps in the far east and say to ourselves - that's a good idea - let's do that here !
There was meant to a District Commissioner in the good old days of Empire, who would go ( as they did) on his travels ...
BUT leave his glass eye on a table to watch Those at Home

he came back one day to find someone had put a hat over it
