If cats are lactose intolerant why do they love dairy products.  We never give our cat large amounts of cheese or cream but if were eating some we might put a tiny amount on our finger tips and she loves it.

My cat loved butter and cheese too.. But it's best only in small doses due to the high salt content. Cat kidneys are marginal in their function at the best of times so the added salt isn't good for them.
I didn't know cats are supposed to be lactose intolerant.  We had a cat that lived to 18 years old on a diet of raw kidneys and full-cream cow's milk, occasionally varied with raw liver and milk.  It just wouldn't eat any proprietary cat food, neither tinned nor dried, although it's mother ate a more normal diet and died at 12!
