any one know why my cat wont use litter tray she goes on the floor next to it. have tried new litter am at wits end

If her scent is now on the floor next to the litter tray that is where she will go, use the litter to clean the mess up with litter, no matter if it is a wee or a pooh obsorbe with the litter and put urine or pooh in her litter tray, it is all about smell, once she has got the smell of her own scent she will go in the tray, do not remove pooh from tray until you get at least 2, then remove oldest, always leave some smell of hers, move the tray on top of where she goes to toilet, but only after her scent is in the loo,

Cats are very sensitive to differences in litter too - bit like us using different toilet paper. I've started using Bob Martin litter - it's more expensive but well worth it.
