this is not a question, just a statement, where I live, at the moment it is like world war 3, with the fireworks going off, there is also an organised display as well, my poor cats are so distracted, one is sitting on my lap, while i,m on the laptop, the other one is cowering under the bed, isnt it about time November 5th was put to bed once and for all, after all it,s over 400 years now, and what a waste of money. Last night they were even going off at 2am in the morning.

my cat and dog have been nervous wrecks for 3 nights now bella46...its time fireworks were only allowed at organised displays on nov 5th...it will be the same on new years eve....
its cranked up here now stoke, the loud explosion ones that just glean 1 bright flash seem like a noisy waste of money
It's been going on since it got dark here. Brian (the cat) was nervous at first......it's not bothering him now. He's busy beating OH up :-)
I agree with stoke...organised displays only, with no sales of fireworks to private individuals. I'm sick of seeing the display in Sainsbury's....among other supermarkets.
We've been lucky enough that we have only had them tonight (so far). My poor cat is cowering under the table. I do love fireworks and wouldn't ask for them to be stopped completely, but on night of the year is enough.
I agree it's like world war 3 here too really really loud, if Bingo was still alive he would be really terrified.
Have you got the curtains closed so pets cant see. My dogs are sleeping peacefully, unbothered.
My cat is chasing a lace......he's hard he is..
I agree. I have 3 labradors, working dogs, never been in the house, have a lovely purpose built shed and run in the garden. Very easy to say keep the pets indoors but that would not work for me. Fortunately, these 3 do not appear to be scared, but poor old Chubby who was put to sleep in April, was absolutely terrified. If you were out walking with him, he would bolt in panic. Used to shake from top to toe. If it was one night a year that would not be so bad, but it seems to have extended into bonfire fortnight, bit like Xmas going on for 2 months before the event we know as Xmas day. As you say, we have them for too many other reasons, apparently they are getting to be a "must have" at birthday parties. I think shops should only sell them to organised bonfire parties and not at any other time of the year.
lol ummmm
My cat is fast asleep....it is like WWIII here also....but thankfully cat is relaxed and happy snuggling with me on sofa....im laughing at Ummm's post though - fab !
Put some music on or turn the television sound up to hide the bangs.
He's just coming for a breast feed now.....bless him
My four are in varying degrees of terror. Whilst they looked very nice over the lake (I stood outside to watch), the cats really don't appreciate them. I shut all the curtains and put the tv and music on to try and drown it out. But next door's really made me mad. Not only did they not let their cat in for the big public display, when THEY started letting them off in their own garden he was still running around terrified. He is now in relative peace in my kitchen - which means I have to exclude mine from the kitchen since they hate each other. Some people just make me bloody mad. Thoughtless idiots.
We've had about half an hour of cracks and bangs round here, it's very much quieter than usual - No1 son is upset but the other cats have slept all evening. I don't know where everyone's gone - it might be something to do with the drizzle!
Putting music or the TV on does not work with Sally. I know that when we first started to get random bangs 2 weeks ago,she could hear some of them before I did.
She's been trembling since 4.30...a few hours more to go. I hate it.
My cats aren't too bothered, but the dog is going mad, barking, whining, panting and generally running about like a demented thing. I have the curtains closed and the tv up loud, but there's no way I can drown out the racket going on out there. It's been going on for days now and will carry on for another week probably. Then at Xmas and New Year they'll be going off again, not to mention all the weddings/parties at the hotel up the road when they insist on setting off the big industrial ones.
Been very quiet here in my neck of the North East --dog fast asleep -- everyone must be in the pub hopefully.
very quiet here in romford essex, must be the massive downpour we have had in the last half an hour
Those that are moaning, didnt you let off fireworks when you were young and did you ever care about peoples pets, I dont think so.

Its only once a year for gods sake.
