Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.
thanks

Well you'll never guess where I've been. I went to a meeting telling me about the 4 Clinical Commissioning Groups that are being formed in the Derby Area with regard to the NHS. Very interesting after the first boring speaker. It didn't last very long but it was at one of my favourite place in Derby. In the Dave Mackay Room 71 steps up to the top of the Pride Park Stadium...I could have gone up on the lift but I thought the exercise would do me good.
Hope you all have had a good day all things considered. I'm happy with mine and am now sitting watching The Folk Awards on 301 and drinking a cocoa.
So I'll say oight oight to you all. See yer later'gater(s)
That should read 'in the Derbyshire area'...
Morning all...bitterly cold and snow forecast but they keep getting it wrong.
The aunt who was ill and then improved sadly died yesterday.
Morning Robi sorry to hear about your Aunt. It's always sad isn't it? Yes very cold today. Let's hope for warmer weather soon.

Hello to Everybiddy else too. Hope you have a good day. I've got general jobs to do. So laters 'gaters
sorry to hear about your aunt, Robinia. When I come to think about it, I don't have any aunts, or anyone of the older generation left. (Most of my cousins are older than me; that's because their parents were a lot older.)

Phoned up the bank yesterday to query an overdraft charge on our statement, since we weren't overdrawn. They explained that it was just to show what an overdraft charge might have been if we'd had an overdraft, but as we hadn't, no money was actually taken.

I mean, whaaattt?
Sorry to hear about your aunt too Robinia, she sounds a lovely and fun person.

Have been to zumba again and then a long walk and then a go on the walking machine that the council has outside for old people. Sunny but very cold here, I love it. Have finally sorted out the bottom of my wardrobe, what a disgrace it was! so many odd socks (where do they all come from) well all washed and paired as far as can be and hanging on line!
My aunt is the one we've had least contact with but it's still another part of the family gone. I doubt we'll go to the funeral, it seems hypocritical when you've never even exchanged xmas or birthday cards since childhood.

ha jno, I've just had a message on my internet banking page that said 'understanding your overdraught'...the only overdraught around here is the one around my feet. (Doesn't matter how far you bump up the thermostat, it always feels cold to me in this weather...I want under floor heating).
well, I hope you treated them appropriately and hung them out with odd pegs!
