Anyone got one yet? I was given one in a shop yesterday. Slightly smaller than the ones we've been using

Not yet, I rarely use cash and as cash points and my supermarket don't dispense/give cash back with fivers it will be a while before I see one.

Mr Cake had a wedge of readies today but no new fivers :-(
How times change! Anyone remember the old big white fivers where you had to sign the back when presenting it?
Remember the old white fivers, but don't remember having to sign them.
Was never rich enough to own one JD.
My OH says there's been a shortage of fivers for ages...that surprises me cos he only charges £6 a time, and customers are unlikely to give him a tenner and say keep the change as a tip.

(well it made sense in my head before I posted this ;)

Not yet. Can't believe it's taken the UK so long to introduce them, they've even got them in Cape Verde for gawds sake!
Sorry, Danny.
Bathsheba, I'm curious to know what service your husband offers that costs just £6????

The shortage of fivers has been a long standing issue apparently.
Sells kisses.
Sorry Eccles, should have mentioned it...he's a barber.

Good heavens! That's a reality check for me!
I agree with Baths. I often ask for £10 cashback from the shop to cover my taxi fare which is £6 inc. tip. I ask for a fiver and five ones and am frequently told, "Sorry, no fivers".
Reality check Eccles? Not with you......
YES I have seen one!

My mate at work went to the cash point and received a mix of £20s, £10s and a couple of new £5 notes.

They are beautiful! Slightly odd feel to them but we'll get used to it.

There's a clear window section on the left with a gold Big Ben, which on the back is silver. I like that bit the most!
I was told this new plastic fiver would last longer. Well, I bought a coffee and a cake and it was all gone!
Lol @ Patsy!
Bathsheba, my reality check is being able to get a haircut for £6!!!
Mine costs £5.45 (geriatric rates).
It's not fair on the women is it?
Lots of Barbers here do ladies trims for much the same cost as mens.

A lot of ladies want a style not a quick short back and sides though.
