.....sitting on the highest point on Valentia Island.......a clear and sunny day with some of the best views I have ever seen.....
A really nice picnic area provided and in keeping with the area......benches set into slate walls......
I sat alone, bar the middle aged couple having a picnic nearby.......they finished, stood up and......well I thought they were walking off the food....
But no....they got into their car and drove away leaving all the left over food, plastic and paper wrappers and a paper carrier bag on the bench.
Had I known they were not coming back for it I would have chased them.... not to throw them off the cliff.....not to slap them with a wet fish....but just to ask.... why?.....why do you litter a beautiful place....the only litter I've seen today.....
They weren't travellers......and they weren't Irish......but hey.....it was easy to bring it home with me and bin it.......
Oh it is sad.....I know I have a bee in my bonnet about litter....here and in England.....but when you see this you know what's causing it....
Ael....I went to places on Valentia I have never been to and was just amazed at the beauty.....breathtaking....
Zacs... saint I don't want to be....a sinner is much more fun......
Great meal tonight.....is the fish good?.....I asked the waiter.....Sure why wouldn't it be.....your cousin Patrick caught it this morning....it was good too!
Gness,
I worked in Kings Lynn and a group of girls I worked with went to Ireland. They were blown away with it and found everyone friendly. Kings Lynn isn't the friendliest of places. I went to Ireland as a child and remember thinking how green it was.
I hope you are having a lovely time.
Craggy Island is close to Valentia, I believe, maybe they were offering the last rites to Father Ted? Picnic wrappers, used condoms, cigarette packets, Celtic football strips, Guinness bottles, milk bottles and the Bishop's vestments, it all makes sense.
