Firstly I thought the whole idea of having secret names like secretmod, ravingmod, modster etc etc was explained by the editorial team so they could calmy explain why a post etc has been removed or someone needs a gently warning to watch what they're saying. If that's not happening then why do they even exist? (it's been fun to guess who is who, I know some of...

Jackthehat 14.04....."Ynnafymmi"    "But if AB is not the right place for you to contribute, perhaps you would fare better elsewhere"            And perhaps you would Also. JTH.

JTH: "This mod-bashing is getting seriously tedious and re-hashing it every couple of weeks because someone is in a snit is utterly boring." - they put themselves in the firing line. Stop this silly secret mod rowlocks and have the courage to explain what you have done. Stop having favourites, stop siding with your friends try and be impartial. In the end that's what will fix it.

Do you see TheCorbyLoon  on that list? No you don't because s/he has an alias.

Those that are known publicly do not have aliases.

i don't know if anyone has noticed but the answerbank can't exactly spare users right now... the site has very very low traffic by comparison and is struggling to fund itself. might not be the best idea to tell people to go elsewhere.

You're determined to keep talking 'balls' ynnafyammi?

That won't come as any surprise to long-term readers...

untitled: "rule 11 is a stupid rule" - yes and it's selectively applied like all the others.

gulliver1 - But I'm not complaining about the site.

On balance, I am happy with the way it is run and if that stopped being the case, I'd leave.

Explaining moderation would lead to endless circular arguments.

14:37 I don't think it would. It would make the mods think before modding, something we all want. Currently we have school prefects with no common aris licking their mates.

barry you have completely missed the point just to be moddy, it's not about the list of known mods, it was about when alternative anomnymous names wre brought in and why (the examples given that had 'mod' in them). I'm guessing you don't have one, or maybe you didn't originally - but then I clearly remember you were openly recruited to remove spam not moderate other posters at the beginning.

The original mods worked behind the scenes and I'm sure they still do. As I understand it they were later given the option to have aliases, as I calculate it at least one has chosen not to. I never had the choice.

I fail to grasp why some people who seem to spend inordinate amounts of time falling out with just about everyone else, and spitting poison over the efforts of unpaid volunteers to enforce rules that are explained to said parties times without number.

If they are so miserable, why can't they go and bother other people who might care what they think and say?

Apart from their own coven, no-one else could care less.

Stay and accept things as they are, or go away.

A simple choice- take your time...

Well, how very interesting all this is.  Mentioned in dispatches umpteen times with never my finger put to keyboard!

Right, firstly I do not have two names - just the one.  Naomi.

Secondly, if a few here (and it really is just a few) didn't  behave like petulant schoolchildren the site would need moderators only to deal with spam.  The vast majority of people post quite happily without the need for moderation which means if your posts are removed, you are doing something wrong.  You - no one else.  You are responsible for what you write and the onus is upon you to ensure that your posts are acceptable.

Thirdly, read rule number 1 and try to digest it.  In short treat other people how you would like to be treated.

If posts are removed it is because they contravene Site Rules.  That's the bottom line.

"If posts are removed it is because they contravene Site Rules.  That's the bottom line."
