The will become unusable if we don't stop adblocking as much as it does if we do!

The Daily Mail no longer allows access if you're using an ad blocker.
I once had an ad come up on here for ...............

......... an adblocker

So, something that wants to block itself. How very Zen ;o)
The pages now no longer load straightaway. There's a small grey box in the bottom which says "Waiting for answerbank.co.uk" which jumps around when I try to click it, and which eventually disappears after about 90 seconds and then the rest of the page loads.

Completely unusable.
That does not happen to me, JimF, so presumably you have an ad blocker still trying to block ads on AB?
This is ridiculous.
The costs of the moderators fees would make a the subscription fee ,prohibitive to many users
I have disabled the ad blocker, Ellipsis - that's why I'm seeing the ads, one or more of which is stopping the pages loading straightaway.
Why would the Mods be paid?
I am on my mobile. I get one small ad at the bottom of the screen.

I have no ad blocker and am noticing no difference to the site at all.
If a site forces me to disable my ad blocker, I almost always leave and never return. But I've been an enthusiastic participant in the Listener Crossword thread for some years now and so don't mind making an exception, especially as the ad is unobtrusive (on Firefox). I just hope that AB doesn't get greedy and submerge the pages with ads. If that happens, I'm off!
I use a W10 desktop PC with an adblocker and have never had a problem with unwanted ads or silly messages.
However, if I follow some links I often find a Daily Mail site which requires me to turn off my adblocker; I simply don't bother to go further - don't link me to unavailable sites.
Jackdaw, the DM works fore with an adblocker

You mean to say the mods don't get paid !!?

Seriously though , that was a tongue in cheek post :-)

(Does 'seriously' and 'tongue in cheek ' go together ?)

It's no coincidence that AB have blocked adblockers just as yahoo answers has come to an end. Someone has obviously seen the pound signs with regards to more footfall. Probably OK if you access AB from the UK but if you access it from other parts of the world, some of the ads can be a bit dodgy to say the least.
Currently I have 10 adds dancing around my pages of AB - three of them state 'Remove all ADs now!'

if the Ads were down one side or at the bottom, I could probably ignore them, but they are interspersed within the replies to threads
Absolutely unacceptable. Think that's me done with AB. What was a nice distraction is now becoming stressful with all these flashing images and video advertisements. Its not worth the hassle on here now.
If AB are serious about their adblocker, they might want to remove the "continue to site" click at the bottom left of it :)
Aww don't go APG.
When AB was bursting at the seams with members it didn't matter if some used an ad blocker and others didn't.
Now that we have fewer active members I guess we will all have to see the ads.
If the reason for so many of us posting far less or leaving altogether had been dealt with properly from the very start this wouldn't be happening.
I really can't cope with these dancing ads and flickering text.... :-(
Not once been asked to turn of adblocker. Will se what happens after I post this
