Hello AB.
On 02:26 Sun 10th Mar 2019, I posted the following question to the Editor's Blog:

“Why Do You Shut Down Active Threads?”

I then went on to explain why a thread involving me and a false allegation about me had been locked down, preventing any further debate. I received no reply.

Now, a week or so later, I return to see if the AB editors had anything to say on the matter. And lo and behold, the entire exchange on the Editor's Blog has been eviscerated from the site. It's as though my question was never asked. The original question thrown down Winston Smith's “Memory Hole” in true 1984 totalitarian fashion.

Nice one AB. Nice one. Censoring legitimate debate about the matter of legitimate debate. You must be so proud. I hope you sleep well at night in your beds, safe in the knowledge that you are the true custodians of morality and righteousness and that all opinions that differ from your own are illegitimate and morally deficient.

You censorious ***-wits. I don't normally swear on forums such as this but seeing as this post will likely be immediately deleted because of the criticism of AB rather than the profanity, I simply don't care anymore.

How do you work that one out, spath?
the excessive verbosity
Curious. I've never thought sanmac excessively verbose.
Unsure why i just got moderator vibes from the comment at 16:55
sanmac refers to andy-hughes....

It seems that being a Moderator on this site is a poisoned chalice and a thankless task; someone is always going to have their nose pushed out of joint.
Including the moderators.
//It seems that being a Moderator on this site is a poisoned chalice and a thankless task//

That’s an oft-trumpeted fallacy. In my experience most of the known mods aren’t criticised at all …. probably because they do a good job and don’t warrant criticism.
Perhaps your list of Mods differs from mine?

There are also people who are 'accused' of being Mods because it suits the accuser...
High V - e
first some AB cyber bitching:
some has referred to Andie Hughes on this thread ! has he contributed or is he mentioned here W/O a contribution ?

O my god there will be some squawking and noises off if the latter is the case - weird I know.

Hi v-e ( there ! over now!)
you have written ECHR [ read the next bit in a singy voice)
that is ECHR and not ee-cee-jaaaaaay!
they different !
and guess what the effect of Brexit has on our membership of the ECHR ?
None
it depends on the 1952 treaty which is not affected ( declaration of Human rights )

we have had this before you know ...

in which you feature
er gaily ( in the pre 2nd world war sense I stress) confusing completely the ECJ and ECHR

you read but you do not learn
I don't have a list of mods, jackthehat, but I don't doubt you do. I'm just aware that a few posters are mods because they've said they are. I've never 'accused' anyone of being a mod either. Not the sort of terminology I'd use anyway. 'Accused'? Hmmm ... not nice.
OK, who are the 'known' moderators? Is it permissible to name them?
I only know those who have named themselves, sanmac. B00, Buenchico, andy-hughes, Gromit .... doubtless I've forgotten some.
Chris (Buenchico), Andy-Hughes and Boo I know are comfortable being identified. I know a few other but I'm not sure how pleased they'd be being outed, so those three for sure Sanmac.
as a comment on Austria v NZ
this doesnt seem too bad ....

what effect does it have on us
none I think
or perhaps wait and see....
I didn't say you had, personally, accused anyone of being a Moderator, naomi....

I put the emphasis marks around the word to highight my tongue-in-cheek definition; as if it were indeed something shameful, to be a Moderator.
Oh, Craft48 ...

Love her username. She says it stands for Can't Remember A ******* Thing. (My asterisks).
I'm off to the butchers to get some meat balls.
LoL....
Andy-hughes is the most often reviled Mod on AB.....and gromit has already been called out on this thread.

So half of the Mods you have named are 'doing a good job'?
jackthehat, Okay.
jackthehat, I said 'most of the known mods'.
