Hello AB.
On 02:26 Sun 10th Mar 2019, I posted the following question to the Editor's Blog:

“Why Do You Shut Down Active Threads?”

I then went on to explain why a thread involving me and a false allegation about me had been locked down, preventing any further debate. I received no reply.

Now, a week or so later, I return to see if the AB editors had anything to say on the matter. And lo and behold, the entire exchange on the Editor's Blog has been eviscerated from the site. It's as though my question was never asked. The original question thrown down Winston Smith's “Memory Hole” in true 1984 totalitarian fashion.

Nice one AB. Nice one. Censoring legitimate debate about the matter of legitimate debate. You must be so proud. I hope you sleep well at night in your beds, safe in the knowledge that you are the true custodians of morality and righteousness and that all opinions that differ from your own are illegitimate and morally deficient.

You censorious ***-wits. I don't normally swear on forums such as this but seeing as this post will likely be immediately deleted because of the criticism of AB rather than the profanity, I simply don't care anymore.

Jackthehat, clearly yet another who is happy to see the AnswerBank lose contributors. Strange.

As for //I suggest those that feel this to be manifestly unfair cancel their subscription and demand a refund......oh, wait.... //

.... whilst it's true that membership here costs contributors nothing, as I said earlier, without members there is no AnswerBank - and since AnswerBank exists not for our benefit but to make money that train of thought is not conducive to healthy business.
Spath, maybe you should have another look at Ed's post at 09.20 Monday.
Not at all, naomi, not at all.....

Although if some were to hitch their wagon to a different star, I think I'd be able to get over my disappointment very quickly.
I don't doubt that, jackthehat.
//Birdie is an articulate and knowledgeable contributor and an asset to this site. I sincerely hope he continues to post.\\
Amen to that Naomi. He has long been a favourite contributor of mine on this site. Too many others of his calibre no longer post.
Case and point. Line and fish.
Pretty sure that in the thread that started this whole thing birdie was just trying to wind up people who disagreed with him, and getting his insults in first. Now we see it again in his very first thread.
Yes. The more astute ABer's may be able to see exactly why this thread hasn't been removed.
Do you mean the moderators, Zacks?
No.
So are moderators not astute? If not surely they would have removed this?
I never said that (A typical AB non sequiter). The Ed has been involved in this thread, Spath so the views of Moderators are null and void.
Leaving it up serves to undermine birdie's chief complaint, for starters. Also, which mod is going to do what the editor could have done, but has not?

Site rule; "Any posts asking or discussing why a post or thread was removed or closed, or why a member was banned or suspended, will be removed. "

Also known as, 'Catch 22'
This thread would seem to disprove your 'Catch 22' theory, Khandro.
" Spath so the views of Moderators are null and void."

I personally disagree. The fact this thread stood the test of time from 02:46 Sun 31st Mar 2019 all the way till 09:20 Mon 01st Apr 2019 means that the moderators viewed this thread as acceptable.

If i had posted it, it would have been removed by 03:00 Sun 31st Mar 2019
Catch-22 explained; An airman would have to be crazy to fly more missions, and if he were crazy he would be unfit to fly. Yet, if an airman would refuse to fly more missions, this would indicate that he is sane, which would mean that he would be fit to fly the missions.
It's not a democracy, it's a dictatorship. Ultimately people have to vote with their feet. Many already have.
Khandro, I'm familiar with Mr Heller's scenario. But again, this thread would seem to dispute your theory.
is this the staring-at-my-belly-button thread ?

if not - can we re-label it please ?
