'I'm a forever pressing submit b4 I've checked spelling'

Hardly the site's fault is it?
You're not alone in this request.
It would be a good idea to limit the use of an edit facility time wise to ensure nobody goes back at a later date and changes the question.

Facebook allows posts to be edited but people are able to access the original post.

:-D
Surely you would still have to check your spelling after using an Edit facility. Doesn't your Spellchecker underline mis-spellings when you type.

Hans.
There used to be a preview button which came in handy when submitting links.
User names were also green if you were a newbie.
An edit button would be trolls dream come true.

Zacs-master did I say it was the sites fault ???

Obviously only the person who submits the post should be able to edit it

On Facebook only you can edit your posts
All one has to do is simply condition oneself to read thru before submitting.
