If you read a quote and wish to click back could the page you came from go back to the position on the previous page your reached - it happens elsewhere.
The only way I could see that not being abused is if editing is limited to less than a minute from when the post was first made.
There is a chance to read our posts before we post them but often we are in too much of a hurry to post quickly.
^ mine was in response to waterboatman's suggestion
As you can see below it's been asked for many times, perhaps a return to the screen that would prompt you 'Are you sure you want to submit' may make some recheck what they had typed?

I have no problem going back and correcting a typo - no one sees your blushes on here.

Join a forum with no rules then.
I don't think Ed has the time to answer queries trt- in most cases it's usually obvious that the AB rules have been contravened. (I assume you aren't including your firework joke- almost anyone on her could have answered that query for you)
He is, it was answered but maybe missed the replies as it went quite quickly - as per the rules.
New site? Is this site moving to a new url? If so what is it and when will this occur?
Still in the planning stage Lunol, there has been a little beta testing.

We'll be informed in plenty of time.

A new look rather than a move I think.
Thanks mamyalynne.
Abuse is not a major problem at other sites, and with a record of changes for admin, need not be an issue. Time limitation is therefore unnecessary and could be very annoying. ThereIis no reasonable reason not to allow editing: so I support the motion.
I don't know which sites you are referring to, OG, but abuse is a huge problem on many that have no or little moderation.

I agree with the editing. The users on this site appear to be mature and responsible and not a bunch of squabbling pre pubescent kids.

This feature is available on most websites such as facebook etc.. where moderator presence is minimal compared to to this site and I have never seen it abused.

You should give more credit to the users here which appear to be a well behaved bunch.
Oh Lunol thanks for the best laugh ever xx
On FaceBook you only see your 'friends' posts and you can 'unfollow' them if you don't want to see their posts, or 'unfriend' them if you want rid
"I don't know which sites you are referring to, OG, but abuse is a huge problem on many that have no or little moderation."

Really? An edit your post button causes huge problems on other sites?
trt - either you really aren't getting this or you are being awkward for the sake of it.

That 'joke' would have been distasteful whoever you had mentioned in it.
"On FaceBook you only see your 'friends' posts and you can 'unfollow' them if you don't want to see their posts, or 'unfriend' them if you want rid"

So you'd be in favour of a "User ignore" function?
