WHat are the roadside solar panels for?

Just what are those solar panels powering that I now see at the side of the road? They sit on top of a pole The panels are about a foot sqaure and inclided at about 45 degrees. They obviously are...

What does 4X4 mean?

We used to call them 4WD (4 wheel drive) but that now seems to have been replaced by '4x4'. If one of the 4's meand 4WD, what does the 'x4' actaully mean?

Digital TV's

I have a regular analogue TV and a seperate Digital TV. When both are on, tuned the same channel, the digital TV is presenting the programme a few seconds after the analogue. Why? Surely then time...
