Steam Engine injectors (for topping up the water level in a high pressure boiler), how do they work - whats the physics?

Thanks - incitatus - just what I needed ! (Martinf57)
the water is forced through cones in the injector using the boiler pressure, as the hole of the 'outlet' is smaller than the 'inlet' (cone) the pressure is greater. It can then lift to 'clack valve' and force water into the boiler.
