Hugh Fearnley- Peels skin off veg??

On a recent Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall programme, he made a soup from veg out of his own garden - supposedly organic and pesticide free? - yet he peeled all the carrots/parsnips etc before boiling....

I'm using an hp printer which I'm quite happy with, but just lately, when I've been printing off some sheets for my son, the type fades - as you'd probably get if the ink catridge was running out....
