Phishing Alert

have just received the above purporting to be from google - it came on a pink page with 'phishing alert - people may try and steal your password, credit card details' etc etc' -there was a link to automatically report any such activity on my computer. Was highly suspicious and of course did not click on the link. Anyone got further details please. Oh yes, it came on a new tab at the top of the screen with security alert or similar on it.

I shouldnt worry - if there was areal alert it would be discussed here- some of them do look very realistic but, as long as you never use the link / email / phone n0 they provide, they are usually easy to disprove.

Thank you for the response ukbod2015 - I'm getting too long in the tooth to keep up with all this technology, find it all a little daunting. Thank goodness for Answerbank.
