Himself had a ruptured brain aneurysm aout 20 months ago and got over it really quickly, etc. The hospital think it is leaking and they are 'keeping an eye' on him. This week he has developed some new (and really irritating) bad habits - one day it was slopping stuff everywhere (twice) and not even noticing it and the other is breathing really heavily when concentrating. He also chews his clothes when he is concentrating. He wasn't aware that he was doing these things but I have told him now (hasn't stopped him chewing his bloody clothes though). Any ideas?

It's most likely a by product from the op, sherr. If your worried about it try and get him back to the neurosurgical unit at the QE to speak to someone about it.
I cannot in all honesty relate the symptoms that you have described to a leaking aneurysm.
My mum slopped her tea down her front and didn`t notice. She also didn`t notice that her speech was slurred (although everyone else could hear it). The brain is a complicated structure and a tiny bit of damage an cause all sorts of strange symptoms.

Thanks all, I think I'll get him to go to his doctor for a chat.
sher, I'm no doctor, but I would say any change in behaviour/habits, with his history should be discussed with a doctor.
My son chews clothes and bedding, he is almost 18 years old. It is one of the repetitive behaviours associated with his Asperger's Syndrome, he has always done it since he realised he could put stuff in his mouth.
Could your hubby have mild brain changes/damage from the leak that have caused the new stuff?

That's my concern Daffy, but I'm also aware that I am watching him like a hawk so might be over-worrying (but they are v irritating habits).
...really irritating bad habits. ....chewing his bloody clothing though.
Very compassionate I must say.

If you know jack about something, why comment?
Definitely worth mentioning Sherr - at least then it is on record.

Maybe be something may be nothing.
Penelope......stop and think that with the history Sherr is probably very concerned about the reasons why he is doing this.
I still think that it's probably something to do with the op he had, sherr.

I've just mentioned it and asked him to go to the docs which he is happy to do (he must be concerned, he didn't even have a doctor before his head went bang).

Penelope, I haven't got the luxury of sitting here and wringing my hands and crying in anguish about what might befall us. *** happens and we have to get on with it.
do hope he is okay

Thank you JJ, I'll send him to the doc's on Tuesday (he's on some sory of 'be seen quick list').
