This is just a hypothetical question.

If Edward 7th had not abdicated but still remained childless who would be the current Monarch.

I presume you mean Edward VIII.

The present queen would still have become the Monarch, eventually.

If we assume that the principals lives had followed the same courses that they did after the abdication, such that they died in the same order i.e that the then Duke of York (later King George VI) died before the Duke of Windsor (or Edward VIII as he would have remained), then the Duke of York would not have become King, but when he died the title of heir apparent would have passed to his elder daughter Elizabeth, who would then have ascended the throne on the death of Edward VIII.
I agree, He outlived his bother, George 6th by 20 years, If He was still childless, the present Queen would have still been his heir, but she would not have celebrated her golden jubillee yet, only 33 years

Yes i did mean Edward 8th thank you for the info and explanation we did think it would be the present Queen but not sure why and that we were correct, thanks again.
this is hypothetical, all right, because george VI died of lung cancer. he never wanted to be king and there's plenty of evidence that the stress of being forced onto the throne caused him to smoke more. we now know that smoking causes lung cancer. especially excessive smoking. so, just for the sake of argument, had he not died when he did and, by virtue of a stress-free life, smoked less and outlived brother edward, would elizabeth still have been queen?
Who cares?
