There seem to be many recorded instances of a parent (almost always the mother) instantly ‘sensing’ that something has happened to an offspring, even if that child is thousands of miles away. In some cases – an ex once told me about one she was aware of – a mother woke from sleep at pretty much the precise moment one of her children had died.
I’m extremely sceptical about things like ESP, but acknowledge that there must be some types of brain activity we simply don’t understand.
I’ve never experienced anything along those lines, but there have been occasions when a dream has featured someone so vividly I’d almost be surprised if they weren’t somehow aware of it.
Anyone here got stories of somehow sensing something has happened, either while awake or asleep? Or have you dreamt about somebody and they’ve told you they were aware of it?

Yes...we were having a BBQ and suddenly I got this horrible sense of doom come over me. My sister kept asking what was wrong but I didn't know. Got a knock on the door later on to say my aunty had been killed in a motorbike accident. She was 46 :-(

I suppose no one can prove if they're connected.
I was always fascinated when our youngest daughter was a baby and slept in her cot next to our bed.

When she stirred in her sleep and turned over, my wife, also asleep would do the same, and vice versa.
Yes .... A dear friend of ours was terminally ill with cancer and on this particular night I dreamed he rang and when I answered the phone I knew who it was though nobody spoke. This woke me and I checked the time ....1.45am ...we heard later that day he passed away at that time. We believe he was saying goodbye to us
Personally I don't believe any of it, I really think it is nonsense. I think coincidences should be attributed to these events rather than ESP or any other type of mystical force.
Ratters, I don't care a fig if it's just coincidence or not, if it gives someone comfort then that's enough for me.
Lol maggie, Im not arguing, just giving my opinion, or is that not permitted?
Opinions are not permitted for Health & Safety reasons.
2 o'clock one morning I woke up in a panic over my mum. I tried to phone her at home, but there was no answer (no surprise for the time of night). 10 minutes later my mobile rang - she was ringing me from her mobile. She couldn't speak as she was in trouble, but I heard noise in the background and her calls for help. I called the police, they managed to track her. I had absolutely no reason to believe she was in any trouble, the situation was unique.
Apologies Ratter - you're right!
Lol maggie, apology accepted :-)
Never happened to me, I doubt it will either. Or at least if it does then it would certainly be coincidence, since I imagine terrible things are going to happen loads of times, and they never have yet.

Certainly without personal experience it's a lot easier to be sceptical.
We, me and OH, had a school friend that we'd see out and about on a regular basis. One night I asked OH had he seen him to which he replied no, I haven't seen him in a long time. Got a call the next day to say he'd been found dead in his flat.

Spooky coincidence.
Nothing to do with death, but a school friend from junior school who I often thought about but lost contact with. Hey presto she turns up on a local history FB page that I belong to giving details of her brother's decorating business and still uses her maiden name. Spooky or just a coincidence.
