I've a small 1200 watt halogen heater, can anyone tell me about how much it will cost to run.

Does your electrical company suppliers last bill tell you how much they charge per kilowatt ? It'll be 1.2* that.

Without knowing how much you pay for your electricity we can only make an educated guess, according to the web the average price of electricity in 2013 was 17.2p per kWh, as your heater is 1.2kW then it will cost you 17.2p * 1.2 per hour therefore roughly 21p per hour
