Half way through a short break here in Rhyl. Not been here since I was a child. Can't believe the number of park home and caravan sites. There must be about twenty around here with hundreds of vans on each. How on earth do they make them pay?
There are still hundreds of tourists around all old and wrinkly like us. We haven't heard a welsh accent since we arrived. The staff here are all English and the staff in the shops seem to be too.
At the moment I can't hear the tv because of the torrential rain bouncing on the roof and the thunder and lightning too. But hey oh!we are on holiday so it doesn't matter.
Been to Llandudno and Colwyn bay today, maybe Prestatyn weather permitting tomorrow. Back home Friday.
Caran, I originate from Bangor, Rhyl is now Dirty & not the place it was years ago, if you want somewhere to visit & not very far from you, Conwy, Betwys Y Coed, LLanberis, Bethgellet, Carenarvon, Beumaris castle on the Isle Anglesea, they are all within 2 hrs from you, there is also a large shopping unit is a place called St Asaph, that's about 9 mile from you, I can not remember the name buy they have a café & the prices are good." Hope the Welsh Weather is kind to you. Yachi Da
Thank you for all your posts. TWR we went to Betwys y Coed today. I agree very nice. Some good shops along the railway station. Went to Conwy castle the other day. Prestatyn and Rhyl really have gone down hill now. It's such a shame as they used to be a great holiday venue.
Just finished packing and making bacon but ties for breakfast as we have to checkout at 10.00 am, we are not good at getting up in the mornings as we are both night owls.
