I use a Netgear wireless router to connect to the internet via a cable modem.....my problem is that the connection is dropped at random intervals, sometimes when I am actually using the internet. The connection was stable prior to getting the router so any ideas and help to solve this would be much appreciated....thanks.....commoner

Commoner, by a cable modem, do you mean something like NTL. I noticed yesterday in PC World and Currys (I had to buy a new router and went for the Netgear this time - last time was a Belkin) and I noticed that they are selling two version now (stickers all over the place) distinguishing the 'BT Broadband Line' versions from the NTL versions? How long have you had the router?
Upgrade the firmware on your router.
