Hi all,

are any Italians out there? I would like to know the Italian translation of the term "let's talk". I want to design a business card for an Italian friend as a surprise. And of course I don't want to make a fool of myself. I assume it must be "parlamo" or "parliamo", but I am not sure. Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance or: mille grazie

Thank you, Clarion. But could you please translate the term "Let's talk"? I want to use it as a slogan on a business card. Your variation sounds very good, but it is simply too long for the purpose. If I should be totally off the way, then maybe I better go for "allora".

Thanks again

I'd say "Parliamo", or maybe "cominciamo a parlare !"...I'm in no way fluent in Italian, so maybe there's another way to say it, but these examples are correct.

Thanks maximo,

"parliamo" was the term I thought of from the start. If you say it is correct, then I will use it. It sounds fresh and is short enough to be a "brand name" for an Italian teacher about to go out and succeed. :-))

I would advise you to get advice from a native speaker first though ! I know there are sometimes colloquialisms that non-native speakers do not know about...I'm French, and a beginner translator ( English into French) , so I'm sure someone could come up with something better ! I wouldn't want you to go out and print 5000 cards with the wrong thing on them ! Unfortunately my italian friend is not available now, or I would have asked him. ;-)

Yep - "parliamo" definitely means "let's talk". The BBC ran an Italian language series years ago called Parliamo Italiano - Let's Speak Italian - which was responsible for my learning the language and making my first visit to Italy as a teenager.
