labels don't faze me. However i am sick to death of this stupid idea that we have no culture worth preserving, or a way of life that also needs preserving, that we have no identity, some ask what is meant by being British, for goodness sake. No one questions a Frenchman or Spaniard, they just are French or Spanish, however their way of life and traditions are also under threat, when East meets West what would one expect.
emmie I agree with you totally. If any of us come on here daring to speak out for our identity like that on most threads, we are shot down in flames, as if we are guilty for all the world's ills, and it's a big reason why I'm rapidly going off answerbank. I am proud to be British, English even, although it's hard going these days with all the bending over backwards we do for every tom, dick and harry that enter this country. I will probably be jumped on from a great eight now by the usual crew, but do you know what, I DON'T CARE !

getting all outraged by imagining you might be 'labelled' or 'shot down in flames' or have your national identity criticised when no one has done anything of the sort does suggest a sense of desperation on your part.

I appreciate it might be nice to get it off your chest anyway, but you do realise the outraged response doesn't actually count when the attacks are all made up by yourselves don't you?

It's like sex, you can't count it when you're on your own. What you're doing is called something else.

:-)
zeuhl, actually there are any number of people on this site who have questioned what it is to be British, what does it mean, that showing one's patriotism, for want of a better word largely gets derided as little Englanders, have seen it on here and in the media, if you show a propensity to fly the flag, one is committing a heinous crime, being British used to be something to be proud of, now all you hear, and especially if you are English, is how we created division in just about every country, from India in partition, to the Middle East, all our fault, from the empire downwards, very few things are ever said that are positive about England, Britain, not its innovation, its contribution on the world stage, medicine, law, engineering, technology, but how we put down the worlds poor, from Africa to Asia, its as though we take the brickbats and accept them because we are spineless, never once saying you know what - up yours if you don't like Britain, England, go away and find a place more to your liking, like some in the the Muslim fraternity, Anjem Choudary being just one, he has lots of followers, who seemingly hate us, yet quite happy to bludge off the taxpayer for ever and a day, we are mugs for taking it,
Thank you AOG and Bernie. And emmie - another good post ......

I may stay a bit longer then !
I don't need to post on this subject.emmie AOG,Bernie and Viv are saying all the good stuff for me.Thanks.
