Someone posted this yesterday - very moving.
I heard on the radio this morning the lady's mother speaking about the first time her daughter heard sounds. It certainly brought tears to my eyes.

Hans.
A friend of my Mum's became profoundly deaf in the 1930s following a bout of measles. She had cochlear implants in 1999 and has very good hearing since then. Initially she had to turn them off in town as the bombardment of sound from all directions used to confuse her and made her scared.
It's amazing i agree, but not new and not for the national news surely.
I am very pleased for her.
