Has Hugh Laurie got the worst American accent the world has ever known? I've heard deaf and dumb African pygmies put on more convincing accents.

Absolutely unconvinced by his accent. I remember he first put on an awful American accent in Blackadders Christmas Carol (the future scene) and his accent in House sounds no better.
Even less convincing is the piercing blue eyes. In the first few episodes of series 1 they were pale blue/grey.

In Jeeves and Wooster they are brown, his true eye colour.
Actually no. See any attempt in any film by Michael Caine to do American accent.

Also seen a cupple where Rachel Weiz has bad american accent
Remember Dick van Dyke's Cockney accent in Mary Poppins ?

cor blimbey, murry pappans!

what about eastenders vicky?

the yanks love his american accent apparently altho i do find it a bit too intense
I thought his accent started off pretty bad, but either I got used to it or his accent improved over time. We're on the second series over here and my American wife thinks his accent is flawless!!
I think it sounds fake, but apparently most Americans think he is "one of them".

Firstly to answer the question, yes it's a little bad but them he does have a rather plummy english accent to cover up.

It's much better than an Australian trying to do a british accent though (ala Bennett in the film Commando)

I've watched most of the episodes now and am intrigued by the story lines rather than to worry about the accents.

josh hartnett is on right now in 'blow dry on bbc1 and his english accent is just horrendous! supposed to be sort of yorkshire i think
