The plethora of panic-mongering posts and the associated Press articles regarding Romanians is very reminiscent of the Nazi propaganda of the Thirties - and look what that led to.

I remember when the full horror of the Nazi regime was revealed, the general consensus in this country was "it wouldn't happen here". Well, let's hope that still stands today.

I dont find the posts panic mongering. I think people are rightly concerned about something which is in the news and relevant to our lives.
I don't think a few people discussing things on here has a parallel with 1930s Germany.
They're not panic-mongering, we remember the coachloads of people who came in from Poland, and the constant incoming of the Slovaks a few years back. Just stating the obvious, from personal experience.
if that brought the country to disaster, boxy, then it wasn't panic-mongering.

On the other hand, if the Poles stayed and worked, or went home again without incident, then it was.
Well, I am not at all worried! as the well know lefties on AB, supported by "robust" reports and studies have convinced me that the immigration will not be a problem.
You can't get better than that.......can you?
Sqad, you wouldn't be worried though, you don't live here......

Sqad, has your little Isle got room for a couple of Coachloads please?
Well I say - lets all go to Germany - they have better benefits than us

BTW - Where do you live Sqad?
Anywhere nice near you I can rent?
Baldric - you read my mind
boxy...LOL.
I am always concerned about aspects of my " mother country."
Menorca also has concerns with immigration.......mainly North African.
Also prostitutes from South America and Russia........but no problems with them -;)
I understand the Menorcan influx, it is the same with Malta, boatloads of people only making it as far as Lampedusa.....
The invasion is well under weigh already, on my last trip to the UK in September, on the car-ferry to Dover was a rather tired-looking Romanian coach, full of - 18 to 25 year old - poorly dressed young men. They could only be entering on 3 month tourist visas. I don't think they were on an educational visit, and I would suggest they are still over there.
I have to say though, one of them smiled, and politely and held a door open for my wife.
I have a Romanian neighbour, much appreciated in the village as he is also the village doctor.
Doesn't really matter where the 'coachloads' of people come from. With x amount of immigration there will always be y number of people who intend to live their lives over here dishonestly.

And then you have the nerve to mention "The plethora of panic-mongering posts"

I don't think there is any likelihood of any death camps being built in this country do you?
I don't think the number of posts is quite as worrying/disturbing as all that but to see one or two of the same posters pontificating on ALL of them is pretty tefious.

Mmmm would these posts only attract one or two of these same posters to contribute then?

If not then by the sheer numbers of contributors to these posts, there must therefore be many who are also pontificating on them.
