Does anyone have a recipe for pork in cider that could be cooked in the slow cooker?

1.5 lb of diced pork, browned off


2 x large apples , peeled, cored and diced


2 large onions, chopped and diced


4 large carrots, peeled, and grated


1 x medium sized orange peel only


1 tablespoon cinnamon


2 garlic cloves, crushed but not chopped


5 cloves


1.to 1.5 pints scrumpy jack cider


approx glass of white wine (medium)


place in slow cooker, mixing well, and cook till pork tender. serve with mashed potatoes, broccoli, parsnips.

Slow Cooker Recipe Cider and Honey glazed Pork Roast. Serves 6.

3 lb. boneless pork roast
1/4 cup cider
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup molasses
1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 Tablespoon hoisin sauce

1. Place the roast in the slow cooker and cover with cider. Cook on high 3-4 hours; low 6-8 hours.

Preheat oven to 325�F


2. Remove roast from slow cooker and place in roasting pan.

3. Mix the honey, molasses, mustard and hoisin sauce together and spread over the roast.

4. Place in the oven and cook for 45 minutes.
To serve:
Slice and serve hot from the oven.

Hello nickmo, thank you again for a gorgeous recipe, of which I shall take note. The reason I need the slow version for a while is because we've moved to a house with no oven or even a kitchen of sorts! Role on summer and my new kitchen is what I say!!!!

asciwhite - glad to help - brilliant time to get the BBQ working then!! And don't fall into the carry-out trap! Too many curries and all that sort of thing will soon show.


Slow cookers are great on the purse as well. There are a few cookbooks just for them so have a browse in yor local bookshop and see what suits. You can also use some of the cheapest cuts like shin of beef for meals that have bags of flavour, so its not a problem at all. And chickens in a slow cooker a good as well!

believe me nickmo, the BBQ has come into its own! he just loves BBQing in 2 ft of snow, we don't do take outs because I don't know whats in the food! I do a mean kleftiko aswell I'll have you know......

Hi asciwhite - only 2 ft of snow? Barely a summers day then! Cook in the garage - if you have one - keeps the wet off the bream cooked in banana leaves...........


I spent virtually a whole holiday eating kleftiko to find the best one on Crete. - Found it in Mirtos by the way! Brilliant meal - I think the addition of carmalised baby onions did it - like in a stifado. Coming up to the new lamb season soon, so could be giving it a shot again soon - can't wait now you've got the juices flowing......

LIVK I wonder how many people have copied your recipe I certainly have and will be doing it this week sound delicious .I am always looking for slow cook pot recipies.
