I have had terrible sleep patterns for about 5 years, just seem to have got into the habbit of falling asleep on the sofa and staying there. I wake up all night but can't go back to sleep unless the tele's on. Ive tried going up to bed but i just lay there then go back down again.

Do you think nytol would help me have a good nights sleep occasionally ?

Thanks

yeah i get pretty knackered, im a gardener so got a physical job too but ive always been up early
Gardener?....Then you should be physically tired.....although my gardener has loads of children...☺

Try something mild then...try and stay up a little bit later...Mazie will come on here and keep you entertained...then curl up in a cosy bed....x
Nytol has never worked for me. However I have recently tried herbals with valerian (I use Wilkinson' s but any would probably do).

However I think the reality is that the sleep you do get from using them is a deeper more satisfying sleep. They don't really help you get off to sleep, but what you get is better.
I'd like to know how to stay asleep for a solid 7‚½/8 hours rather than waking early and then being in a daze all day :-(
I agree with Gness.
I love you too, Shoota....well like I said...I love any man who agrees with me.....x
thats herbal Nytol, ordinary Nytol contains diphenhydramine which is one of the original drowsy making anti histamines.

No harm in giving it a try. If you can fall back to sleep on the sofa with the TV on then do what I do. Have radio 4 on quietly in the bedroom. No music just speech all night (apart from the total banal crap comedy half hour at 11pm weekdays).
One of the reasons I stopped smoking was that I was waking up in the middle of the night coughing and spluttering. Since I stopped so has the cough and the interrupted sleep.
Do you drink a lot?

Try cutting it right down, it may help you fall asleep, but doesn't lead to quality sleep.

You might need to pee less at night as well.
Yes Prudie. Sailing By and the shipping forecast work for me every time.
Hammerman will need to record it from the night before if bedtime's 8:30 though. :)
I used Nytol years ago. They worked for me but one day getting them from chemists at the same time as getting prescription High Blood Pressure pills pharmacist asked if both were for me, when I said yes she told me I shouldn't be taking Nytol as it was bad for or could cause HBP. So I stopped, still have HBP though.
My sleep pattern went crazy during my divorce and stiill stayed the same until 2 months ago. After trying all the usuals plus tabs from my doc which worked but he only gave me 7 as they're so addictive I tried refloxogy. After just 2 sessions Im delighted to say I now go to bed around 12am and wake around 8am except for a nightime wee. It really worked for me!
