I have had terrible sleep patterns for about 5 years, just seem to have got into the habbit of falling asleep on the sofa and staying there. I wake up all night but can't go back to sleep unless the tele's on. Ive tried going up to bed but i just lay there then go back down again.

Do you think nytol would help me have a good nights sleep occasionally ?

Thanks

Yepp, that seems a good choice of hypnotics.........give it a try.
Certainly helped me, and is not habit forming.
Good luck.
According to the NHS studies, anything you take to help you sleep, gives you an average of 4 minutes extra a night - once you've slept off the effects of the drug. You'd probably be better off just getting into bed.
Sqad, you have got to be joking, over the years I have tried these several times and they do not work. I believe that the main ingredient is lettuce!
Ah!...NHS studies........unfortunately I take them now, with a pinch of salt............how doe they know that it gives people 4 mins extra? are they there in the bedroom?

leahbee.........lettuce eh?.......didn't know that.

isn't lettuce sap supposed to be a soporific? Though nobody would want to sit down last thing at night and munch their way through 4 or 5
sandy...so it is.......so it is...
If lettuce makes you sleep how come rabbits are so 'active'?
LOL.
LOL
A glass or two of a good red works for me
You're correct, Sandy....it contains an opiate substance I think.

I suppose you could make lettuce soup, Hammerman and have a bowl at night instead of a nightcap...or as well as...

I guess falling asleep on the sofa is the problem...can't be comfy.

If you are going to try the Nytol then make the bedroom welcoming...quiet Sqad.....and warm and perhaps the radio on a timer and snuggle down.

Easier said I know but it's what I do or my mind starts planning things to do, places to go and I'm wide awake.....and awake at night sucks...x
Yes. They put cameras in sleep labs. I'm just a little unsure whether drugs are necessary for something caused by a lack of routine. I would change that first.
I have had no problem at all since I stopped smoking. It's fantastic going to bed at night and know that you are going to sleep.
"Sleep cameras in sleep labs"....Medicine in it's human setting.
Stopping smoking made it worse for me, Leah...I get fidget legs and a cig stopped that....but buying a sheeps wool duvet made the world of difference.
Don't know if the smell of sheep is soporific or just the even temperature but it's helped.

you lot do make me laugh !!!

I have terrible sleep patterns and im up three or four times a night for a wee (doc is aware) Ive always been an early bird and a decent lay-in is 6am !!! therefore, im usually asleep early eve (half 8 ish)

Might give Nytol a bash
I once needed to sleep at night. (It was mainly worry at night over somthing long ago resolved). Horlicks did it for me and got me back into sleeping at night.
Blimey, Hm....if you're up that often for a wee ditch the bowl of soup idea....

That's early to get up....would staying awake later than half past eight not help? Or are you so tired that you just fall asleep on the sofa without getting ready for bed?
Nytol contain valerian, hops and passion flower. Try them hammerman, they might just work for you. Good luck x
