hello,I'm sophie, I'm 15 years of age and desperate to earn a little extra cash.

I'm looking for a part time job in hemel hempstead. I do not mind what the job is, although I would quite like to do something in a hairdressing salon, maybe even get some sort of apprenticeship.

I would be really grateful for any work or contacts that anyone could give me.

Thankyou

unless things have changed, you can not work, legally, until you have received you National Insurance card at 16 yrs of age.

It's really great that you want to earn a bit of extra cash but not really sure where you stand in getting a job. My sister however worked for a family run hotel when she was 15 so it can be done (though it may be illegal.) Have you thought about selling some of your unwanted belongings on Ebay? It's really easy to do and you could make quite a bit of extra cash?

Good luck anyway :)

How far off 16 are you?

I'm 17 and, like you, wanted a part-time job when I was 15. I found most places wouldn't take me on on a grounds of insurance. I did get a paper round (which is the only work you can do, really) until I was old enough, though, and the experience must have helped as I got a Saturday job on my first try!

As for the hairdressers, why not just go round to local hairdressers and see if they want any help? Even if you're just sweeping the floor it'll be experience future employers would value and you'll be getting some extra money too. Give it a try, there's no harm in asking.

My only other sugesstion would be to ask around friends and family as small businesses such as market stalls are less likely to be bothered by national insurance etc.

Good luck! Amy.x

I don't believe its illegal to work under the age of 16, I worked from the age of 13! Its great that you've already decided what sort of place you'd like to work, as simsfreq suggested, pop into local salons. It definitely helps to have this experience when applying for full time jobs once you've left school/college.

Im 14 and get paid 2.30 an hour in home and health shop... So yeah u can work, just go around and ask for any saturday jobs going...You will find somewere
