Why do you want to muzzle the dog? If it is on a lead it will do no damage.

I have a boxer, 42Kg, he is a great oaf but I still keep him on a lead. There is anothe idiot round here, a man in his sixties with two alsations he lets off the leads. One of them is vicious and twice has attacked my boxer. The last time it hit my dog so hard it banged him into a car. the owner when challenged decided to accuse me of being aggressive, I was not but I was very cross. He seemed to think he had the right to do it and would not have it that his dog was the problem. Luckily my dog is big enough to defend himself. If muzzled he would not be able to do so.

Muzzling is not the answer, better policing is, remembering it is not all the hoodies who are the problem.
baldric; yes I've been attacked, and so have 14,000 postmen and women in a 3 year period; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1258562/Number-postmen-attacked-dangerous-dogs-rockets-costing-Royal-Mail-millions.html
Here we go again - all dogs should be muzzled. Why?? It's only a minority that is dangerous and as usual the minority has the effect of making the majority pay the price! My dog is a lovely family pet as are all the other dogs I know, they just want to play and have fun and be loved and why not, they didn't ask to be born. Give me a dog any day than the lowlife scum knocking around lately beating up old folk. My poor dog would be mortified if I put a muzzle on him and wouldn't understand, and for what, because chavs, lowlife and the dregs of society get away with everything these days, including owing vicious dogs that they never take responsibility for. I know, let's muzzle the likes of them!!

Viv, you do realise that would affect their 'uman rites?
It's much easier for the prejudiced/anti dog brigade to say 'Muzzle the lot'
than it is to sort out the minority who actually cause the problems imo.
Agreed Viv! Some children need muzzling too! Lol.
It is irresponsible owners what need putting down not the dogs!
Well said baldric. It never ceases to amaze me the knee jerk reactions that come screaming to the fore whenever a dog attack is in the news (and yes, my heart bleeds for the ones attacked). Humans do far worse things and they are supposed to know better! AND it's humans who allow their dogs to be anti-social. It used to be fun owning a dog, now it's like we're public enemy no. 1!!
I'm puzzled by the term // 'uman rites // End of.
Judging by the look of some of the people walking these 'weapon' dogs, I wouldn't mind seeing the owners muzzled as well.

I don't understand why we still see these dogs about. I thought various acts of parliament had effectively outlawed them. They're like automatic weapons in the sense that there's no reason why the general public should ever need to own one, and no good can come of it.

Good to see that the law has been strengthened again though. It all helps I suppose.
the law may have been strengthened but it doesn't stop the attacks, nor will it.
