What exactly do you mean by 'dangerous dogs' TWR?
If the dogs are classed as dangerous dogs, then I thought that *had* to be muzzled?

I have a real issue with people letting their dogs run loose in children's parks, where they could potentially attack a small child. I once told a lady to put her staffordshire bull terrier on a lead, as it was running wild and frightening the little kids, but all I got back was a mouthful.
I really hate it when they come up sniffing your child and the owners say "don't worry, he won't hurt them". It's too late when the dog has it's jaw locked around a child's leg!
Not gonna be popular but I think all dogs should be muzzled in public.
You can see lads on the street in most cities, looking tough with hoodies or whatever and a Staffie / pit bull type crossbred dog.

The Dangerous Dogs Act has done little to stop this.

Perhaps all dogs should be muzzled on the street, except for toy breeds and guide dogs. tough on poodles and Labs, but it's the world we live in...
i have seen plenty of dogs categorised as dangerous off leads, one massive creature was a cross staffie with a jaw that could have done some damage, and the dog of choice around our way seems to be more wolf looking than roly poly pet.
that dog in jno's link is pretty common around in the capital, i hate it when sitting in the park, they let these just go, i know you can get a bit off any dog, but some of these larger dogs scare the hell out of me.
some days honestly, "a bite", i really must go to specsavers
I know it hasn't worked very well, but what if the Dangerous Dogs act was extended to cover all Staffy type dogs and maybe a few others? At least then the legit ones on the streets would be muzzled and ones that aren't could just be taken off the owners.
I personally wouldn't like to see all dogs muzzled and if it came to that I probably wouldn't have another dog again, but perhaps that's a good thing, less dog owners.
won't make a jot of difference to the blokes who have no care for law and order, who wants the dog or dogs as status symbols, one bloke had three on leads, they were very strong, muscular animals and if let off the lead who knows what they would do.... maybe nothing, but i still don't like it.
There-in lies the problem, illegal or not you're still going to get idiots like that.
some fierce looking creatures here...

i know you will, sadly London has quite a lot of them, idiots...
That list looks pretty suspect to me emmie :(
Surprised to see the St Bernard on the list, I know they're big, but I always thought they were big softies.
what do you mean suspect, not real?
i have seen the Japanese Akita, and varieties of the staffie cross, bulldogs and indeed one recently where its owner was taunting it to bite,
perhaps it would just roll on the owner and squish it.
I do not want peoples dogs coming up to me and my family uninvited making physical contact in any way or form.
I dont want dogs putting their paws on me, i dont want dogs noses touching my trouser bottoms or shoes etc

It really pizzes me off that i should have to tolerate it and they are the ones that get all schitty when i ask them to get their dogs away from me and my family.
St Bernards, Great Danes, Malamutes, Huskies...the list of dogs that shouldn't be on there far outweighs the ones that should. I'm not a fan of breed specific legislation anyway- the real issues are that certian breeds capable of being aggressive under the right circumstances appeal to total idiots. It's the idiot problem we ought to be addressing not the dogs.
