KP,

I have to admit I am at a disadvantage when it comes to your religion because my knowledge of it is incomplete which is why I try to avoid specifics when discussing religion.

I think we seem to basically agree except on two fundamental points, obviously faith, perhaps your right but I need a more evidence to believe in something. That's just the way it is.

Regarding the Original Quran being present to date, yes the language may be contemporary but it was written 1400 years ago so to me it can't tell you in detail how to live in the 21st century only in general terms. Regarding interpretation even in Islam there are two distinct branches interpreting the same book and religion differently so how can the message be clear.
Rev – I know what you mean. And I appreciate that at least you have confidence to say what you do and do not know otherwise many people will pretend to know everything. Although I believe that no one is ever aware of everything and that is human nature. Our knowledge is never complete and that is where the pleasure of learning MORE comes in. I would suggest (if you don’t mind) that you should read Quran with translation and commentary yourself (just like any other book instead of listening to me or anyone else) and see it for yourself.

Quranic teachings are still practical even after 1400 and would always be same and these are to do with human nature and needs, as basic needs of human are always same. For example Islam forbade alcohol then and we still see that it makes sense. Even latest research shows that it has few benefits and more dangers and Quran said that word to word. And that is the main reason why Islam is spreading because it is not just a religion of 1400 years old but a complete way of practical life.

As for interpretation what you said, I believe if I am right you are referring to fundamentalism. First of all how much fundamentalism world knew about before 9/11? But still I would say that has nothing to do with Islam or Quran itself and more to do with how a very little fraction of people use these for their own benefit. Otherwise I am sure there is not even a single verse in whole Quran that goes against humanity.
