Has anyone else found that bacon is becoming a lot more saltier to the taste or, is it just us losing certain parts of our taste buds, as we become ancient??

The reason why bacon does not have any flavour is because it is too lean. When you had more fat on a side of bacon ,it had a better taste. Then the injection of about 15% of water does not help.

Thanks for the info conne. No Sainsbury either I'm afraid.
We only ever buy smoked.... few rashers of that on a buttery roll with gold star brown sauce.... mmmmmmm :P
Bacon and brown sauce????? What? In fact, brown sauce and anything - yuk!
A previous post mentioned that Asda had a dry-cure bacon for sale that had no added water. I saw the same product in Tesco. Yay! Tried it. Flavourless.
Try your local Farmers Market, you are guaranteed to find some locally produced bacon there.

In the Supermarket look out for Denhay or Spoiltpig bacon, they are the same product but marketed differently according to where it is sold.
