A Bit Of A Moan...

I wasn't sure where to post this, so please accept my apologies if I'm in the wrong place.

I want to know what's wrong with people &/or society/the system.

My good friend passed away on Friday & I'm his next-of-kin & sole executor.

I've just spoken to the coroner & registrar & have been informed that each copy of the death certificate will cost £4. If I then decide that I need more, each further copy will cost £7. I don't mean to sound petty, but are they having a laugh?

It's a piece of paper & some ink, produced during office hours, therefore incurring no overtime - how can they justify those amounts?

I'm not balking at paying for them, I'm annoyed at what looks to me like making the most possible profit when something bad happens.

Oh, and please don't mention the vultures - they're circling even now - what makes people think that way? No respect for the life or death of the person, just "What can I get from it?" Despicable, revolting people.

Sorry for ranting & probably not thinking it through, but thank you for letting me do so. I have to go down and empty his kitchen now, so I might not be around to reply to any posts for a while.

Deepest sympathy for your loss, LIK. x
First and foremost sorry for your loss!
Oops I submitted this without finishing.
Money does seem to bring the worst out of people. Sometimes it can be over such a trivial amount.
When my gran was dying my uncle took some records and the door matt. Every time my mother is unwell I always ask 'is the door matt still there' she knows what I mean.
Years ago we had a patient that was not intended to survive but did. We could not discharge her as the family had sold her property.
My thoughts are with you!
just another chance to say very sorry at your loss.
i 'm not going to bore you with what one of my cousins was doing to my mother's affairs but enough to say i hope he will get his just desserts and hopefully what comes around goes around.

Bless you LIK... I don't envy you with your task ahead.. I remember when mother popped, the bloody solicitors charging my sister for a phone call to send them a photo-copy of some paperwork that they'd misplaced!.. how bloody rude!! Anyhoo... Rant away sweetheart...
Hi Lik. So sorry that you've lost your friend. I too lost my best friend last Friday so I totally sympathise. I can't comment on the cost of paperwork because her family are dealing with that side of it but I am sending you best wishes and a hug.
