Will you be meeting others on a bridge somewhere?

Confused?

Well it's called "join me on the bridge" and it is all about women building bridges of peace.

The directors of the women for women's programmes in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda lit up on the idea of women coming together on a bridge that borders their two two countries to make a stand for peace and for the end of violence against women.

And apparently it has took off all over the world.

So that is behind me asking the question "Will you be meeting others on a bridge somewhere"?

"Woman's Day" also happens to co-inside with the international pooh-sticks championship.
Brrrr.....in this weather? I think not!
No I won't.
It's a bit sad when there needs to be, in someones mind, an IWD imo.
it's raining, i'm not going anywhere. Nice google logo mind you..
Ive just celebrated with a cream egg. Yummy. Hope I dont have any pooh sticks later LOL
>>>Is your boss giving you free cinema tickets?

This sounds rather sexist, giving the impression the "boss" must be a man handing out gifts to the women "workers".
Particularly appropriate given the "bridge" aspect referred to by our African affairs correspondent :-)
ichkeria, did you write and send your reply via the free Wi-Fi in Tescos? ;-p
I work for Oxfam and there was a special posters and window displays for International Woman's Day last year. Haven't heard anything about it this year - but then I probably wasn't listening or had my headphones on.

It is frightening that in 2013 women in some countries have the same rights as they had in the middle ages. They are abused and murdered and if raped are unfortunate in that they themselves may actually be punished for the attack.

It's a man's world in many places..
Nice idea ... but I've got to work till late so won't be venturing anywhere today.
can't seem to stop this sort of thing happening though, the only consolation i suppose is they have been caught... this is UK,

There's no signal in Tescos snags! Hopeless!
Big bucket (sorry bouquet =) of flowers for the manager though :-)
Wolf, I think it's going to take much more than an IWD to get rid of that type of culture sadly. Each day should be a battle in defending women from such abuses, in fact, any abuse perpetrated against another human being.
It's a cruel world.
we should start here in Britain then, as per my link... another bunch of lowlifes...
alba - it brings to the attention of people that ladies are not equal to males in many parts of the world.

But you are right
