Ebay Purchase & Paypal?

I have asked a seller if he would sell me an item 'buy it now' and he has agreed but wont change the listing as it will cost him. He wants me to send him the money through paypal - I'm a bit dubious about doing this and not sure how to do it.....has anyone else done this & will it be okay??

You have to pay upfront through PayPal anyway, but if the seller goes against his word, and you dont receive the item you purchased you can always open a case within PayPal - dont worry you will be covered if it goes wrong.

You COULD ask him to do a Paypal Money Request for the amount you agree, you'll pay him and hopefully he'll send you the item. I've done it myself, both as a buyer and as a seller.

has he offered a buy it now price? if he doesn't stop the auction, someone else may bid and he'll sell it to them - ebay wont help you because they don't know that you paid him already

I wouldn't. I don't see why he can't alter it to a "buy it now".
Unless it is a very expensive item, it wouldn't cost him that much, but it would have to be that there were no bids on it yet.

paypal is fine, just get teh buyer to 'invoice' you and pay.

or just bid to see if you win?

If there isn't a 'buy it now' price shown, as far as I am aware, he cannot just withdraw from the auction as Ebay advise and suggest it has to run its course as he agreed on his listing for x number of days.
Re Paypal. No problem, very safe and secure.

When I had that situation, I had to re-list the item with a buy it now price. Then he bought it. Sorted.

Tenrec - that's what I've suggest he does but says it'll cost him!

Think I may give the purchase a miss this time!

It wouldn't cost much if it was a cheapish item.

If he does that, sells it privately like that, I have a feeling that he is contravening his Ebay T and C. personally i wouldn't do it unless I was willing to risk losing the 30 quid.
