I think it is usually written as INRI, an abbreviation for the Latin for Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.

Hi, It is actually usually INRI , as Grunty so rightly says, which stands for "Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum" , literal translation "Jesus the Nazerene".

Within the Greek and Eastern Orthadox Church it is sometimes INBI based on the greek translation rather than the latin "Isous o Nazraios o Basileus tn Ioudain", as Pilate ordered the inscription to be written at the crucifixion in Hebrew, Latin and Greek, according to John.

Other NT books have it in three languages - Latin greek and English I suppose,

and remember that when Pilate gave the order to write this, some jews (pharisees), said no, put he says he is the king of the jews and Pilate says what I have written, I have written.

Good stuff.
