According to a civil rights laywer this morning on radio 2 they do.
Capital punishment in Indonesia is rare. It was last executed when Islamic extremists convicted of orchestrating the 2002 Bali bombings were put before a firing squad on 8 November 2008. Earlier the same year, a man convicted of killing 42 children in an attempt to gain magical powers was executed on July 11, and on June 26 two Nigerian nationals were executed for drug trafficking, following a four-year moratorium on the execution of such sentences due to their controversy.[1]

As of January 2013, there are around 75 Indonesians and 40 foreigners in detention who have been sentenced to death

It seems to be the mules get caught and punished while the organizers walk away scot free.
According to a civil rights laywer this morning on radio 2 they do, it is common practice to execute locals that are caught with a few grams of weed.
The mule should have known better!
looks like they are trying to curb using the death penalty, however people should know that carrying and dealing drugs carries a harsh sentence.

She'll probably do 5 - 10 years in jail whilst the FO try to get her to serve a prison sentence in this country.
A cousin of mine was caught with heroin in Thailand and was lucky to get off with 15 years in the slammer. He served his final 5 years in UK. The authorities take it very seriously out there.
She is no niave young woman - if you carry out the crime in an overseas country with the death threat you should think twice.
I think we only hear news of death sentences in Indonesia when a British person is involved. Thought I heard someone on R4 this morning saying a Vietnamese was executed last week.
I do hope they dont carry out the death sentence, imagine how she must be feeling tonight.
