ye m"lady...
Good one, mrsm!

Have to think about that, but Thunderbirds was up there - loved the models! I also enjoyed the recent movie too, as an adult - a lot of fun.

Topcat though was one of my top favourites............loved it - remember Benny and the Cop, Office Dibble.
Hey, mrs m, you stole my lines :-)
If you're simply referring to Thunderbirds, etc, then (unlike most of the other kids) I didn't want to be any of the 'macho' puppet characters; I wanted to be 'Brains'!

If you're asking about my all-time favourite puppet character, please refer to my avatar ;-)
The Muppets were amazingly popular when I was at Uni - and yes Animal was up there along with the Bald Eagle...
I couldn't stand Thunderbirds.
Joe 90 and Captain Scarlet.

A fondness for childish pleasures can last beyond student days, DTCF.

When I started teaching (in 1975) we had to re-time our staff meetings so that we didn't miss . . .

. . . the Magic Roundabout !

;-)
I used to baby sit my eldest sisters lad and he loved Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. The bloody thing got me hooked on horse racing when I noticed a local butcher had a horse called Captain Scarlet and my nephew (five years old at the time) insisted I put 5d each way on it for him every time it ran.
Fireball XL5
and i loved this .. i watched every episode without fail

What a sad day. I've been a fan of all the Anderson series since I first watched Thunderbirds in '64. Been a member of Fanderson (the Gerry Anderson Appreciation Society) for over 30 years. GA was a brilliant man, if frustrated that after his 'puppet' successes, no one would commission a 'real' series....until he came up with UFO! Favourite machine is my avatar!
oh yes, TB2, the work horse of the fleet
if memory serves ... was space 1999 intended to be the next step for ufo .. but they made some changes to produce what was?
Thunderbird 2 was a great craft.....a neo Space Shuttle.
I don't profess to be an expert on UFO/Space 1999 Ex, but I don't think so. UFO is set in the early 80's, whereas Space is obviously in 1999. I believe that the concept of Space made it easier for the writers to come up with other worlds etc, though of course, the speed the Moon would have had to be going in the time frame would have wiped out all life on it! But these are the inaccuracies you put up with! In the first episode of T'birds Fireflash levels out at 100,000 feet and the sky is still blue and there are clouds; T1 is flying at 7500mph at 2500 feet and goes into a 30degree downward dive to land...at that speed T1 would have hit the ground in about 0.6 of a second, but its all good clean fun (except everyone smokes!). My favourite blooper is T1 starting down the ramp to the launch bay. When it arrives under the swimming pool it has turned 90 degrees; a fault only corrected in the films. Think I'll run through the videos of the two series over the next few days...nothing better to do!
