What does everyone think of this TEXT SANTA show on television?
All monies raised are clearly going to a very good cause, but do you think the government should do more to help people in this country, rather than send so many millions abroad?Should charity begin at home?

Yes. That's why I tend to avoid these sorts of things.
agree with SB
Have you donated and which way did you vote?
No, I've just said I avoid this sort of show
No I didn't donate to it either. Not sure why my voting record has to do with anything?
All types of benefits are being cut or reduced from April next year. Nice to know we're all in it together.
Not you boxy, the OP
Nor youSB
^ LOL, OK!
Is that what it's about? I saw it listed and assumed it was a drippy xmas movie
I watched The Chase earlier and Bradley Walsh said all proceeds go to UK based charities
I was in ASDA today and all the staff were wearing Text Santa hats. I wondered what it was all about.
ASDA supports text Santa, but I've no idea what it's about. I know it sounds mean, but ordinarily I only donate money to aid this country.
Is anyone else tired of being bombarded with giving to good causes. I am.

Yes, its a bit like pudsey bear/children in need appeal like show.
What i meant was if our government didnt send so much money abroad to help other countries, they would be able to help needy charities in this country instead, instead of theman in the street have to dip into his pocket yet again.
Shpuld our government do more to help us at home first?
I'm with you Georgiesmum. Cameron promised to match the first £250,000 raised with the same amount from the Government, but I think that kind of money, (and more) should be paid towards NHS treatment for these kind of causes anyway.

Glad it isnt only me then parkdale.x
I tried hard to donate but the system wouldn't let me!!!
1.The 0300 number had a recorded message "We are not open until Monday".
2. I filled out all the personal details required for donating via itv.com/TextSanta
and put in my 8 digit HSBC bank password (all figures).
3.When I got a message "There must be at least one letter in your password" I gave up in despair.
4. I tried to "Text Santa" on my mobile and donate £5 but I could not make that work. (That my have been my fault as I only send SMS messages on my mobile phone and have no experience of money transfer that way.
I'll try the 0300 number on Monday or ask for help from the HSBC.
I would have donated blood/marrowbone or whatever that young chap needed, but when I applied to the Anthony Nolan trust in the late 70's I heard nothing more from them!
