i put milk in. my husband says it blocks the "pores" of the teabags and makes for a very poor cup of tea though. Still, when he makes me make it i make sure i put the milk in forst as revenge
I agree with mr bednobs, but these days I don't drink milk with my tea so I'm not a good example. If I make it for anyone else, the tea always goes in first.
Tea first and add milk.
Milk first

But I don't like tea.
I always do tea bag first but I doubt I'd notice if someone did it the other way round. The reason I do it is I like very strong tea and if it's even a fraction too milky I just won't drink it.
Milk last!
If its a teabag, tea first then milk. But if I use the teapot it's milk first then tea. For coffee its always coffee then cream/milk
it comes from when tea bowls where made of fine china, putting milk in first instantly cooled the tea so it didnt crack the china. I put tea first then milk myself.
I put the milk in second, as I do for coffee. That's because I can see how much I need to pur, as I pour ! The idea that milk should go in first is said to be because early china cups were liable to crack if subjected to near-boiling water. The milk prevented that .
Teabag 1st and then the milk! It's like gnat's pee otherwise and I like my tea really, really strong.

Also, I hate it when you have a cup of tea in a cafe and they put the hot water in before the teabag. What The Funicular is that all about?! Yuk.
I put the tea in first, otherwise I am liable to flood the tea with milk,or if its a bag I don't seem to be able to get it hot enough to make a decent cuppa.
Not that I take milk,I go to all this bother for other people!
If the tea bag is in the cup, milk last. If you make tea in a teapot then milk first.
Milk first, so it mixes properly when you pour the tea in.

If you add the milk last, it forms little milky trails in the tea.
MissCommando, I like it like that - because I like my tea weak. If they put the bag in the pot in the kitchen then bring it out, by the time I get it it's much too strong for me :-(
If you make tea with loose leaf tea you will notice the difference. Putting the milk in first allows the tea leaves to settle to the bottom. Add the milk last and you have a lot of floaters.
Never! Tea bag, water, add milk, squish teabag in mug, stir.
Tea (from tea leaves in pot for me) in first, milk last then you can judge how strong or milky you want your tea.
