I have seen this and thought I would post for your views... I know what i think!

Rape has become endemic in South Africa, so a medical technician named Sonette Ehlers developed a product that immediately gathered national attention there. Ehlers had never forgotten a rape victim telling her forlornly, “If only I had teeth down there.”
Some time afterward, a man came into the hospital where Ehlers works in excruciating pain because his penis was stuck in his pants zipper.
Ehlers merged those images and came up with a product she called Rapex. It resembles a tube, with barbs inside. The woman inserts it like a tampon, with an applicator, and any man who tries to rape the woman impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergency room to have the Rapex removed.
When critics complained that it was a medieval punishment, Ehlers replied tersely, “A medieval device for a medieval deed.”

is that true?
There's nothing new under the sun. I think I once read of some Viet-Cong women used a similar device to wound American GI's on R&R.
Bloody marvellous invention. It would be great deterrent that would prevent also the spread of disease.
If it isn't true, it should be. But then, would the chap sue for assauly, like the criminals who have been hurt carrying out their crimes ?
wouldn't a rapist check first?
*assault*
It wouldn't bother me overly if a rapist was severely damaged in the willy department, but this device is open to abuse. Suppose someone mentally unstable or just hell bent on vengeance was to acquire one and decide to try it out on some innocent man.
True kiki, a wife could use it against her hubby simply for just wanting to watch the olympics and not doing odd jobs around the house......
That's true kiki

According to wiki it's now called Rape-aXe ...if you google that there's a site that shows how it works. (I won't post a link, it's explicit)
It sounds to me as if it might do the woman some harm as well. Also there are other forms of 'rape'.
Presumably one would have to wear it all the time, as one would be never sure when one was going to be raped.
Then there's this. All legends have a grain of truth in them somewhere.

Actually, Mick, I hadn't thought of that. I hereby retract my earlier comment.
I saw a picture of one of these on FB a couple of days ago. I don't think it woud be intended for use in Britain but certain other countries where rape is far more likely. I don't think the argument about wives using it as revenge is too valid, after all she'll be charged with an offence as if she had taken a cheese grater to his wanger.
