Had an eye test at Boots yesterday and need new reading glasses. Have ordered their cheapest ones at £25 in the same frames as my existing ones. Asked how much to have new lenses in old frame and told £60. Funny old world!

I think it depends if existing frames are metal or plastic. Most opticians I have spoken to are very unwilling to try this, usually claiming that they cannot guarantee to get the existing lens out without damaging the frame.
I ordered the cheapest glasses from Asda @ £43.00 to keep as spares as I am always loosing my glasses and dont want a chain around my neck as it ages you [ I am a mere 74 years young and dont want to look 84 thank you very much ] only used them once and they were under 7 days old and the lens came out ! they have returned them to the manufacturer for me.
