Thanks RATTER!
polly. i think thay are very good, thank you for sharing them with us.

you have nailed victor meldrew . . well done
very good Polly, I have mine somewhere on here.....if you go to Arts I think. Have you thought about doing it professionally or semi-professionally? - I do the latter and it pays the wine bill..... - lol.

I'm putting one on here and this one ended up in me having to declare the proceeds for tax.

That is excellent DT,I have thought about commisions it but I'm always afraid that they won't turn out right!
they will, Polly - do it and have a go, that's why I posted mine. My customers can always reject and it goes into my portfolio......no-one has said No yet. I have been waiting for some better weather as I have one pub and two churches down here to do, the latter for weddings (cards etc for t-ys and prints). Then I head to Oxfordshire in June for three commissions of largish houses for folk - bigger fee but I lose the original.
Question Author
I am tempted,I have done a few for family members and they have been pleased with them,or so they said!
the trick is, I think, for us hamateurs, to keep the originals and sell high grade prints - maybe I am teaching Grandma to suck eggs, but look for someone who can do "Giclier" printing on a high q.paper - giclier literally translates to cat pizz but it is a very accurate spray technique that can pick up our finest lines.

(i) Let the Cust accept or reject - usually pushes them to ordering more
(ii) Don't let the cust over order - I do no more than a 1000 postcards for pubs as I argue a) accidents can happen b) we can restock in a week (true with my printer and actually 3 days but underpromise and overdeliver) and c) it helps all our cashflows.

(iii) hold on to the original if poss, make sure any prints that you do has copyright: PollyX written on the back and the date. Lastly, I mount mine with a neutral mount in stone (unless specified) and seal in a bag - cost £8 all in for the mounting and sealing, if large orders I can get down to under a fiver.

(iv) push high, you can always drop your prices, not increase them. Originals (A3) down here go for £200 to £300, up in OX a little more.....hee. My prints sell in at about £30 to £35 mounted and sealed and out at £50 to £60, ready for framing.

Hope this helps.....but go on, have a go, it's fun and a sense of self-reward....
Some great talent there, well done Polly and DT.
thanks for the comment, marval....
Impressed Polly and DT.
Polly. For heaven`s sake go for it or you`ll get to my age and be saying "if only"x
if you need some help,Polly, let me know; we can always go off line by using a dummy e-mail to establish and connect our e-mails.

Aw thanks gness.DT I think what put me off was when I emailed some of my portraits to a local village gallery and was told that portraits weren't very commercial. I suppose the commision would be the best option.I shall have to have more faith in myself.
