My 18 yr old son and his gf came to stay for the wkend. I offered to have baby (4wks old) for both nights to let them have some free time, which they leapt at. And so we all had baby in the day but then bed time was my turn. Even though she is a pretty good sleeper, i didnt dare shut my eyes as I was so terrified of anythng happening to her "on my watch" as it were. So was utterly exhausted by yesterday. Absolutely loved having them all but its amazing how you forget how totally shattering and what a 24-hr job it is having a newborn. Any vague thoughts I may have ever had about having another child have well and truly been binned!! But she is gorgeous : )

The joy of having grandchild/ren is you can hand them back, so I've heard anyway :-)
Ah smowball, aren't they just gorgeous? As Alba says you can always hand grandchildren back but I think you have more time for them than you did for your own kids.

Smow, so glad you enjoyed it, I really wish mine were that age again, when you've got two four year olds and a seven year old it is much harder to keep them occupied.
Wait until she stars talking Smo. I`d forgotten `til GD number one came along. I used to take her to the library for an hour because she knew to be quiet there and got lost in the books.x
oooh gness, our local library has sing-songs for babies and toddlers on a Wednesday afternoon.
I went once for internet access, when the singing started, the look on the guy's face next to me was priceless. 'What the.....!'
Congratulations Snowi, God made Grandmothers because he couldn't be everywhere all the time.
It will get better too believe me. :o))

jem.
Couldn`t get involved in that Alba. I complained when the Knit and Natter group were given a space in the corner of our library. Knit if you like but no nattering!

She is just so gorgeous but even though I have a 12 yr old I had forgotten about all the stuff you have to take just for a walk down the road for a snack at a little place ten mins walk away! We had pram, bottles, spare bottle incase we split first bottles, water incase she didnt want the milk, spare clothes, blankets, nappies, wipes, gloves,hat................
Not in a Tartan shopping trolley I hope Smo.:-)
It's surprising the amount of stuff you need for someone so small and precious. You pack enough for a marathon camping trip :-D

lol, no in the brand new pram/car seat/travel combi thingumybob that I got them. Should have it as a game on the Krypton factor just trying to put the thing together!

Go knows whats needed to go on holiday! Oh and the little darling threw up whilst I was winding her over my shoulder - and I have long dark hair! Oh how they all laughed.
Ah yes, I remember it well!! They are so wonderful though, treasure every moment.
"Free time?".....4 weeks old!.........what do they want "free time" for after only 4 weeks?

I thought that there had to be a "bonding period" that mothers go on about.....wouldn't this be a good time for the parents to ...."BOND?"
ahhh sqad, they're only teenagers. Besides Smo wanted some cuddle time :-)

(The teenage mum of my acquaintance was dianosed with MS a few weeks ago)

sqad - only while they slept. Not for the daytimes.
I see...;-)
Personally, I couldn't wait to get my hands on my grandchildren, although admittedly they came late and I thought i wasn't going to get any. I was 60 before my daughter-in-law had the first one. I have three now, all boys and no chance of any more, but make the most of it while you can they grow up all too quickly. Oldest is now 24 and other two 21 and 17. Last one is my daughter's one and only.
