We,ve just our kitchen a mini makeover (worktops, sink and black metro tiles) The cabinets are medium oak and the worktops and tiles are black!.. We will probably buy cushioned vinyl for floor . We dont know what colour emulsion will match the kitchen or what colour flooring? At the moment it is a beigey-brown colour that doesn't look right. It is a victorian house, the ceiling are quite tall. The kitchen is 5 metres by 2.5 metres. Help please!!

White units go well with black but could make the room look a bit cold. You could go black and white with red for tea towels, flowers, pictures on wall, etc to warm up a bit. Look on the web for an Ideal Home magazine type website that will give you kitchen ideas. Maybe google Kitchen Ideas? Good luck.
ilovemarkb, I've been waiting to hear how your dog is after visit to the vet. Could you pop over to your previous thread on Animals and Nature and let us know please. Sorry, not intending to hijack this thread. Thanks.
And to answer this question, pale aqua would look nice IMO.

thanks for your suggestions!! ill get some colour tester pots x
I have a similar colour scheme cherry units, black tiles and worktop. I have black slate tile effect vinyl. I have painted three walls cream and one red and have red accessories.
I'd recommend sage green, in particular Ball Green by Farrow & Ball.
Green sounds like a cold colour but this makes a room seem warm
Mrs O's suggestion of Farrow and Ball is a good one and they have a super colour balance.....

Hard to say without seeing the room (a photo?) but I would consider creams and greys to balance against the black... the room needs a light colour to maximise the dimensions, esp the width viz the height, their "String" perhaps might work very well (some tie-back to the sage suggestion...).

What colour is a belch?

Burple!
It sounds like you need a colour in the mix and I agree with a green or maybe red if you're a fan of red and black. It such a personal thing. But I'd go for a lime green myself and have some accessories to match with a hint of cerise!
voila, Madame O, un goût irréprochable, je crois.

its all about colour-sense - but then each of us have individual tastes - mine comes from an artistic "country" sense, and, no doubt, Mme O's does as well.....aahhahh - I'll do a runner.
maid-up is right, your accessories can carry the extra "accent" colour.......
