What is the best way to cut them?

Is it best to cut them with an X shape, or just straight across?

I'm trying to think back to when I last had a spud-u-like meal or a spud from one of those coal burning things in the market as a kid, just can't remember.

Depends on the filling; if it's something that you're going to grill then in half. If it's a sloppy type of filling like tuna mayo, then cut a X.
If they are really well cooked, cut a cross and squeeze at the end of the cuts.
I would cut cross-wise. Mmmm jacket potatoes...

Thanks !

As I mentioned before on a couple of earlier posts I've been making miniature food for when my four year old daughter comes to stay.

I like the look of my mini spuds, just wasn't sure for best effect how to cut them. I will probably load then with a little grated cheese and a few beans on the day.
